Hey you!
Can you predict what I will be doing this week? Don't rush to read the last part of the newsletter to find out. You’ll miss the fun of it.
I'm forcing myself to write to you tonight, to be really honest. I'm exhausted. By the time you get to the very final sentence, I sincerely hope you find it interesting. I haven't had enough rest in a long time; in fact, I've been trying to concentrate on my studies since the start of the year, and I recently concluded my examinations. Since I've been at school more this year, I haven't taken as many cake orders. I've been away from my baking business for about six weeks, and while I miss it, I had to rearrange my priorities. I'm resuming fully next month, and I'm launching something that would be available daily as well. Let me use this opportunity to beg you guys to support my not-so-little brand, tell your friends to pull up! Follow on IG 1704_by_themmie, thank you in advance.
Actually, there's a reason I'm writing to you today. Did you notice the sub-title? Yes, we never stopped the series; as long as I am still in my twenties, it will go on. Please forgive me if this piece feels scattered by the time you finish reading; as I stated earlier, I'm really tired.
I have been trying a number of things to help me reach one of my major life goals and finding my path. In the process, I have experienced both victories and setbacks. Even though I haven't finished school yet, I've applied for a ton of opportunities in my field that are relevant to my present level in order to build a strong foundation. I recently applied for an internship program that will involve an externship, it will last for a couple of months. I applied to this particular program for three main reasons: the chance to gain real-world experience and practical skills; an opportunity to receive mentorship from the facilitators; the incredible lineup of people who are successful in their fields; and the chance to network with new people, particularly my peers. I believe that networking horizontally is one of the best ways to reach for the stars. All in all, I knew my time would not be wasted if I was selected. Anyway, I was chosen for the internship, and Joseph, one of our facilitators, informed us during orientation that only 40% of the applicants qualified for the internship program, they had over 100 candidates or so. He said that for us to be selected, it means we are doing something right and better because for every 10 people, only four made the pass. This opportunity was opened to both undergraduates and graduates, by the way. At that point, I decided to give myself an applause for a job well done because I sometimes don't feel like I'm doing well enough. Lol, tears are beginning to race down my cheeks as I write this.
Since the program started, I have completed a few practical and in-depth assignments. Thompson assigned us a task in my most recent session on "Personal Branding" that requires me to share one thing about myself every day for the next five days. It could cover a variety of topics, such as experiences, ongoing projects, and values. We share our assignments publicly on any of the three selected social media platforms btw. Don’t let me even begin to explain how that has been inspiring some daring feelings. One essential component of being noticed wherever you go is audacity; you need to get bold in order to occupy certain places in this world and sharing our in-depth assignments for the world to see is certainly building some audacious spirit in me.
I've decided to share one thing about myself for the next five days by writing to you. I mean, what better way to build a personal brand than by developing the little community I have here? To be honest, I still haven't figured out what I'll be talking about each day, but I hope I deliver a good piece all through. Any day you don’t get a notification, just check my notes instead of posts. Speaking of being audacious, I'm risking sharing my blog page with my facilitators and mentors because this is how they will assess my assignment. Wish me luck!
By the way, after the fifth day, I can't promise I will still write to you this month until next month. It's my birthday next month, btw. I think I really like anticipating my birthday, even though I don't do anything special, but, you see, making it through each year is a very big deal to me. One day, I'll talk about this. I want plenty of gifts; send me something, okay? Thank you.💜
Bye, see you tomorrow!
Love,
Temiloluwa.💕
