Okay, so I have something to tell my friends.
I’m starting this letter the same way I’d say it out loud because I want you to read it in my voice. Hehehe. 🤭
And if we’re not friends, you can still stay. Feel free to read all the gist and this little love letter I’m about to write to my people.
My dearest friends,
The internet says it’s International Friendship Day. I honestly considered sending each of you a DM, but then I thought, why not say it here? So if you’re reading this, please know I wrote every word with you in mind.
One of the greatest gifts God has given me in life is the gift of friendship. Not just friendships, but the kind that carries you. The kind that reminds you that you’re never alone. The kind that reminds you how much they’re grateful to be doing this life with you. The kind that stays, yes, the ones who stay through it all.
You have walked with me through so many seasons; the joyful ones, the confusing ones, the painful ones, the quiet ones, and the victorious ones. You’ve celebrated me loudly, prayed for me when I couldn’t find the words, checked in on me, sent me money without being asked, and stood beside me in ways you probably don’t even realize.
Lately, genuine friendship has been teaching me just how important it is to have people in your corner. People who celebrate your wins as though they were theirs, who sit with you in your hardest moments without trying to rush your healing, who speak life into you when you’ve forgotten who you are, and who remind you that you don’t have to carry everything by yourself.
Because of you ehn, I know what healthy love looks like. Because of you, I know that consistency, kindness, honesty, intentionality, and showing up are forms of love too. You have unknowingly raised my standards so high that I can no longer settle for relationships that lack depth, intentionality, or care.
I say it all the time: there’s love at home. And beyond my biological family, you are home. Home is anywhere people make you feel safe, seen, understood, and deeply loved for me. That’s what you’ve been for me.
Thank you for letting me be your friend. Thank you for trusting me with your hearts, your craziest thoughts, your stories, your laughter, your tears, and your dreams. Thank you for allowing me to love you loudly. Thank you for letting me play the “mother hen” sometimes 😂, and to my older friends, thank you for allowing the youngest in the circle to act like the oldest sometimes. I know I can be a lot sometimes, but thank you for loving me anyway.
To every friend who has ever showed up, cared, prayed, made memories, celebrated my little wins, bought from my business, shared opportunities with me, checked on my health, reshared and reposted my works, reminded me of God’s promises, laughed with me until my stomach hurt, or simply stayed... thank you.
You’ll probably never fully understand the impact you’ve had on my life, but I carry pieces of each of you with me every single day. You’ve made me softer, stronger, wiser, and better.
I pray that life is kind to you. I pray that God surrounds you with the same kind of love you’ve so generously given me. I pray your prayers become testimonies, your waiting seasons become celebrations, and your hearts always find rest in God’s unfailing love.
I love you all more than words could ever adequately express. Thank you for being my answered prayers, my starsss, my biggest cheerleaders, my shaylaaa, and one of God’s greatest gifts to me.
Happy International Friendship Day to the people who make life infinitely more beautiful.
I’m always rooting for you!🫶🏽
